My Old Girl.

She's 17 today.

We have been through a lot together.

She's mostly blind and deaf but she's happy. And hungry. My husband (who is ordinarily very politically correct) has renamed her Helen Keller.

Please address your cards, letters and negative comments to him. His name's John.

As for Shy? I think she deserves a party.

(P.S. I reposted this from 2 years ago!)

  1. I'll send over The Pea's non-politically correct party hat:

  5. Awww, she is so cute. Definitly deserves a party - and needs the hat! Our little dog gets a party every year on his birthday with a cup of applesauce. He loves apples and applesauce. Oh, and oranges; well, anything round that even remotely resembles a ball.

  6. Happy Birthday Shy! Do have a party, the kind where people drop bits of bacon or cheese on the floor. She deserves it.

  10. Aww, Shy says thanks everybody.

She had steak and cheese and a good walk in 60-something degree weather!!

Her dog boyfriend is here right now and then she plans to be exhausted or she would've told you this herself.

  11. She looks like she'd have a lot of stories to tell over a couple of Martinis. I can just imagine a great raspy voice.

  14. I love Helen Keller!

Guess I'm not really angling for any PC awards, though.

    Happy B Day, cute doggie!

  15. LOL! The Helen Keller comment made me (really) laugh out loud.

We have one that's 14 and still going strong. He may have a little arthritis in the hips, but he's doing remarkably well for being a big dog and being 14!!!

We also have one that's 11 who's starting to show some age. He's just tired all the time, and talk about grumpy in the morning! He's also getting pretty pudgy, so we may have to start walking him a little more...

I love yours, though! Happy Birthday Helen.

  19. One does adore one's pug. Mine, named Pompey, is about to turn twelve. I do so love him, my little bundle of sweetness and fun. I shall love him even more when he's blind and lopsided with age, and I fully expect he will retain his characteristically "healthy" pug appetite for as long as his heart continues to beat. Your husband is a stitch!
