Thirty-five years ago this week, this song appeared on the Billboard charts. Probably on Casey Kasem, American Bandstand and The Midnight Special, too. "Sister Golden Hair" makes me want to hop in my parents' Bonneville convertible and drive with the music blaring, daydreaming of suntans and spring break...
Who else is old enough to remember this? And if you weren't even born yet? Keep it to yourself. :-)
God almighty - deja vu....I was likely sited next to you in that 75'Bonneville slathered in baby oil headed to the beach. I was likely wearing huarache sandals,and we were listing to SGH on an 8 track tape. I long for those care-free mindless days! Thanks for the flashback it was great fun. Groovy weekend to you xx

And wasn't that song alternating with Afternoon Delight? On Long Beach Island, NJ it was and it was the best summer ever. I wasn't old enough to work yet as I was only fifteen- it was my last free summer :)

i totally recognize the song, but i was probably a youngster. i was born in 69, so i am by no means terribly young..but this seemed like a song my parents would have been into. that said, i dig it now. sister golden hair ROCKS!!!!!
Me! I'm old enough to know and love the band America! Spent many hours on our way back and forth to Rehoboth Beach and O.C., MD listening to them. 70's music. Ahhh, yes! Miss those days!

My brothers used to play "America" all of the time. I heard so many 8-tracks like America, Grateful Dead, Bread, Supertramp ... and as an 8 yr-old, I got my fill of these guys. wow. Good times and memories even if I was just a wee little guy. Thx for visiting today!
I was probably in or around 4th grade, and watching all the cool teens on our street, driving off in Dodge Darts and the like, heading out to the beaches and Shore, and feeling very envious! LOVE this song!!!!

I was 10! And I remember "Afternoon Delight," too. I remember my dad asking me if I knew what it (AD) was about (because I'd walk around the house singing it). I didn't have a clue! Love America -- looking forward to sending to my husband, who was 15, too.
Although I was only a gleam in my father's eye, I recognize the song. Do I get points for that?
