Speaking of Gray...

I am in love with this room*, the office of Alexandra Wentworth and George Stephanopoulos in Georgetown. Their house in the new Elle Decor is refreshing because it is not a cliche plus there are lots of shades of gray.

Kudos to The Ice Queen, La Russell for the current issue**. I have passed on the last two issues of Elle Decor due to the uninspired redundancy within. Now this is what I'm talking about.

*Of course, I picked up the sample of this color and the chip bears no resemblance to these walls.
**Only one zebra rug in the entire issue!

The Perfect Kitchen.

Back in the early days of my blog (lo, those many months ago) I did a post on my Dream House Tour which you can see here. Well, I think I may have a kitchen replacement. *insert angel choir* Tada!

The kitchen of Lindsey Buckingham (oh, yes, of Fleetwood Mac fame, looking quite fresh and unharmed by the 70s) and his wife, Kristen. As you may recall, I am currently obsessed with black cabinetry (see my post here); these are painted B. Moore's Night Shade. I love the white island to change it up and if that's not the most perfect kitchen table ever, then I don't know what is. The extra scrumptious Murano chandy was reportedly an eBay find.

The photos look the same but they're not. My scanner is only so big and the bottom photo shows the stove on the right with the cow painting on the range hood. I love cows in the kitchen. Heh.

The floors are paved cement tiles. They give me a backache to look at but they sure are purdy.

I am in love with her art studio (and jealous) and their veggie garden. Beauteous to the eyes, tasty and useful in the kitchen.

All from the March issue of Elle Decor, still in production, thank god. Get it while it's hot.

P.S. You may be amused as I was to see that Nathan's long-dreaded awaited Top Design spread appears and Ms. Russell spends much of her editorial explaining how it was that he won. Ha.

If you are here from Decorno, here's the editorial (just click to read):

Am I Smoking Too Much Crack?

Or did Nathan actually win the Top Design finale?

Am I missing something? Because his house looked like my first apartment which I decorated using castoffs from the neighborhood trash and homemade art from Goodwill. His "art"? Well, Basquiat he is not. And his bedroom looks like an outtake from the J.C. Penney catalog. Top Design it is not. But maybe it's just me.

Here, you be the judge and tell me how you voted:

Nathan

Ondine

Preston

I loved Preston's work - he was consistent and glamorous - I think he should have won. Ondine's final project was very pulled together and groovy but I thought she was inconsistent overall. I purposely did not post Nathan's dining room photo because it was his best room and I didn't want you to be unfairly prejudiced in favor of him but, seriously, what is his obsession with paper plates?

I recall the judges saying that while Preston was consistent and beautiful, Nathan was inconsistent but showed the promise of something better?? ¿qué chingados, judges?

So, who did you think should have won? Was someone eliminated who you think should have won? Does Margaret Russell scare the shit out of you? Tell me. Curious minds want to know.
