Playlist for a Broken Heart.

You know how music can take you back to a single life episode, to a new relationship, to a broken heart? My first husband died of cancer just over 7 years ago (this post was a tribute to him on the anniversary of his death; the last gravestone was his). Today would have been our 23 wedding anniversary. When my heart is broken I play sad songs over and over. This is a partial playlist from that time period ("Songs to drive your car off a bridge to") and, unfortunately, due to my unbelievably shit week, it is my playlist today:

Give Me Love by George Harrison
Bring on the Rain by Jo Dee Messina
How Can You Mend a Broken Heart and I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry by Al Green
If You Leave Me Now by Chicago
Without You by the Dixie Chicks
What's Going On by Four Non-Blondes

Please pile on and add your favorite sad songs. Hopefully, I won't need them tomorrow.

So sad to hear of your loss. I liked the post with the markers. When I was searching for my birth families I spent a great deal of time visiting cemeteries. I really like going to them.

The last time I was in the small town in Utah where my birth mother is buried I went to visit her with my cousin and took a picnic.

The lyrics you put on your husband's marker are the ones that I always think of to remember my dear friend Peter who has been gone for 10 years. So true.

Hope your week is better this week.

Thanks, you guys. This is why I didn't say anything on Oct. 6, I mean what are you supposed to say? I had a whole post that went with those photos, Dec, I didn't end up posting it at the last minute. and it's been 7 years but there are still a couple of days that are particularly tough, especially in light of events this week which I also didn't post about at the last minute.

I just thought it's something you should know about me; it's a big part of who I am.

Wow, I can't even imagine how difficult that must have been for you. I am so sorry.

Best wishes for tons of happiness for you and your daughter. You deserve it!

Ok, pity party's over but I am too busy to post. I'll do a quickie.

I am sorry to read of your loss. I completely agree with your playlist for a broken heart and have my own ready to play when I'm blue. I lost my father 12 years ago to cancer and when I have one of those days where all I seem to do is think of him I whip out a few old photos with my sappy playlist and think of all the good times we had.

To cheer myself up I then proceed to play some fun girlie songs like girls just wanna have fun, respect, and so on...

Hope your day improved!

Christina

Thanks, Erin. And thank you Christina - Somebody else with a sappy playlist! Yes, and happy must follow sappy or else.
